EDMR – 1-2-1 Counselling and Therapy sessions

Available to anyone living in Sutherland, in association with Scourie Community Development Company and Foundation Scotland/HTSI, 6 free, supported sessions are available to experience EMDR Therapy to improve health and well-being.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is an integrated therapy approach for treating trauma and psychological stress that was developed by Francine Shapiro in 1987 and is supported by research. EMDR Therapy allows people to process events that have become “stuck in time” and lead to symptoms in the “here and now” (i.e., the present).

The symptoms a person may experience now are often the result of a past experience that has not been processed adequately and integrated into the brain. In other words, your past experiences continue to affect you today.

Testimonial

“I would like to Deeply Thank the Scourie Community Development Company for this service to me and others and hope that you continue to receive funding. I particularly appreciate that you went out of your way for me, others areas could learn from your practice and extend beyond theirs of CBT, Branching Out and Drug Therapy all of which i have partaken in , to some but no lasting effect.  feel that Oldshoremore Retreats is an excellent setting for this kind of work.

It has the combination of a beautiful natural setting and a beautiful built environment, just what i think a “hospital “should be which facilitates healing and Wellbeing, I think John Muir would approve. Angela  a very intuitive Therapist who has a large range of skills and tools to employ and is a great asset to the Community, Angela and Andy provide a very warm, nurturing, humane environment, creating the right balance between healing attention and personal space to reflect , heal and be. It has only been a short time since the EMDR therapy but i feel changed and still changing at the level of beliefs, psychological patterns and behavioural patterns. Grandiose i know, but as the saying of ‘Know Thyself” goes i feel further on in that journey and that is where WellBeing lives. Thank You very much. with Gratitude”

“ Amy visits me every eight weeks. I have quite an extensive medical history and suffer very badly with a variety of conditions which makes it difficult to reach down to cut my toenails, my nails are very thick and difficult to trim, my feet are prone to callouses which makes walking painful. With regular treatment, many of the problem areas are kept under control making it less painful for me to walk, and my general outlook on life has improved”
